Story
I’m NOKI, a textile artist, aka Dr Noki. Since 1996 I have built an ethos around awAIRness of sustainability as a creative platform, forging a career in art installations, custom built high fashion and in further education as a sustainable design directive. I create ‘mash up’ collage graphic art and one-off, custom built, art apparel from 2nd life sustainable textiles.
In 2008 I created Dr Noki’s NHSt (Noki’s House of Sustainable Textiles) for the Fashion East platform.

I could say a lot, but I’d rather not
So, I’d rather leave it up to a journalist Osman Ahmed, who wrote this wonderful article for Neue Luxury Magazine which sums up really well my 25 years of hard, ‘sustainable’ slog. In Osman’s words, here’s my story…
I subvert the blipvert, by injecting positive graffiti modernity through my art
I want to inspire new thinking by reducing landfill not adding to it
Helping people rediscover the sustainable textile possibilities already lurking at the back of their wardrobes, in second hand shops and once you think about it, textiles are everywhere waiting to be custom built.
Become your own postcode ‘customiser’
I’ve always encouraged people to be inspired by my work and to copy me. OK buy a piece or two of Noki NHSt for an inspired kick start, but carry this positive energy on and build your own interpretation.

Why Do I Wear A Mask?
I want people to focus on my art and its message, not on me.
I call them my ‘SOB Masks’, which has 2 interpretations - the Suffocation of Branding or the Sexuality of Branding - you choose.
